    HOPWA HOUSING RESOURCES

    The HOPWA Hurricane Response Project is a joint effort between Collaborative Solutions, Inc. in Birmingham, Alabama, and AIDS Housing of Washington in Seattle, Washington. The purpose of this project is to provide an intensive and coordinated response to help ensure the continuity of HIV/AIDS housing and support services for low-income persons living with HIV/AIDS and their families in the impacted areas of Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana.

      This is the official website for the American Red Cross. It provides information on where and how to donate to Katrina recovery, and contains current press releases and articles about the ongoing relief efforts.

      Sponsored by the Public Interest Law Project and The Sargent Shriver National Center On Poverty Law, this website is dedicated to help the survivors of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita obtain adequate assistance from FEMA.

    • Katrina Aid Today
      Katrina Aid Today is a consortium of ten social service and voluntary organizations, led by United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), dedicated to helping survivors navigate the system to recover from this tragic disruption of their lives. This website provides a list of the ten organizations with contact information for each, including work plans, financial report templates, and calendars for upcoming months.

      This website provides resources for people affected by the hurricanes, for legal aid and defender programs helping them, and for private attorney volunteers.

    • National AIDS Housing Coalition (NAHC): Katrina and HIV/AIDS Housing
      This page provides links to online resources from both public and private organizations and lists what NAHC members are doing to assist people living with HIV/AIDS in the impacted region.

      National Association for Home Care and Hospice is the nation’s largest trade association representing the interests and concerns of home care agencies, hospices, home care aide organizations, and medical equipment suppliers. NAHC provides a listing of all state associations and their contact information.

    • Public Housing: How to Locate Your Local Public Housing Agency/Authority
      Public housing authorities provide Section 8 and other low-rent housing to low-income individuals and families. Contact information and links to websites for local public housing authorities is available from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and Public Housing Authorities Directors Association.
