WZZK's Don Daily interviewed Rusty Bennett, Executive Director, CSI on the affordable housing needs in Alabama. CSI's mission is to work in partnership with state and local governments and nonprofit agencies to promote the development and provision of supportive housing and supportive services for special needs populations especially in the Southeast and hard to serve rural areas.

The National Low Income Housing Coalition estimates that over 44,000 new units of affordable housing are needed to meet the gap in housing in Alabama. Such a fact has spurred CSI and such community partners at Alabama Arise and United Cerebral Palsy of Birmingham to launch the Low Income Housing Coalition of Alabama (LIHCA). LIHCA's works to advance new policy initiatives to increase safe, decent, and affordable housing for Alabamians with the greatest financial need.
