Housing Stability and Homeownership for Special Needs Populations

Training Series 2008

INCREASING HOUSING STABILITY AND WORKING TOWARD HOMEOWNERSHIP FOR SPECIAL NEEDS POPULATIONS: A GUIDE FOR HOUSING CASE MANAGERS

Housing case management is a critical tool that can help clients achieve greater housing stability and can help clients think about and start preparing for the opportunity of homeownership. Homeownership is one component in an overall continuum of housing and services for special needs populations. Unfortunately, homeownership is not often considered a viable option in a system often characterized by housing crisis. However, everyone deserves the right to be considered for homeownership. Housing stability and homeownership are issues that require housing specific assessments, planning, and monitoring. In this training, case managers will engage in dialogue and learn the importance of housing-based case management as a tool to empower clients to achieve the highest levels of self-sufficiency with homeownership being one consideration.

Collaborative Solutions, Inc. is able to offer both onsite and an online training series to address both housing stability and homeownership for special needs populations. The sessions are as follows:
